The Bullies of the 4 Way Stop

If I would have waited 2.5 more seconds to take this shot, it would have been a sweet barf shot. No wonder he was crying.

According to my drivers ed tutelage from Mr. Applegate back in 1991, there are certain rules of order that apply when you meet other drivers at the 4 way stop. However, those rules don't seem to apply in the Salem-Keizer area.

What I often encounter at the 4 way stop is the "wave through." Even when it's not my turn, there is usually someone there who waves me through. I feel like they're telling me what to do and bossing me around, and I don't like it. They think they're being polite (don't get me started on the exceedingly nice drivers here), but they're a bunch of bullies.

I bet Taylor Swift isn't a bully. She seems like such a nice gal. Kate has all of her music, which means I know all of her music, and I must admit, she's kind of growing on me. I'm not a fan of country music, but that Taylor Swift is just so sweet and talented, I just can't help but like her. As much as I dislike concerts, I would probably take Kate to see her.

It's not that I don't like the musicians at the concerts I've been to, it's that I don't like the other concert goers, and it totally cancels out any love I have for the performers. Fools sing and dance at concerts, and I'm no fool. It bugs me.

Here are the concerts I've wasted my money, or a guys money on in my life:

  • Chicago (date's money)

  • INXS (my Ream's job money)

  • MC Hammer/Boyz 2 Men (date's money)

  • Z 93 Summer music festival with classic rock has-beens performing (Ream's job money)

  • Alanis Morrisette (my college money)

  • Oingo Boingo (my college money)

  • U2 (our poor newlywed money)

  • Natalie Merchant (our poor newlywed money)

    • After about 1999, I decided not to waste any more money on concerts. A CD with a good set of speakers is good enough for me. I'll only sing to my music when I'm totally alone - not when I'm sitting in an arena with 20,000 fools. I also enjoy Austin City Limits sometimes, because I can watch in my pj's and turn it of when I get tired.

Hey-that's not 3 for Thursday. It's Thursday and I did not see 3 pictures of the cutest nephew on the planet. Holy crap-you made a really cute baby boy. You should do it again, take a crap shoot and see if the next one is as cute.

I also, do not dance at concerts. I can still imitate this girl I went to high school with, Grace, I wasn't friends with her, but she was in my math class and I did not care for her. She ruined my DMB (Dave Matthews Band for those of you not in the know) experience. She happened to be sitting by me and was dancing so horribly that it ruined the whole show. I can still picture her in my mind, and if Brian weren't sitting here next to me, I would bust a Grace dance. I also do not I like the concerts that much, unless you count the joy I get from people watching. And I can people watch for free at the Valley Fair Mall thank you very much.

Four way stops give me so much anxiety and I usually end up just swearing up a storm. Horrible person right? Well, this horrible person loves a good concert. It's the best place to be to just watch people. I just can't get over how much they rob you anymore.

      I like Doc!

To quote Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, "Hey brainless!" Concerts are where its at. You have not lived until you see Green Day at club DV8 with about 300 people and a drunk guy decides to stage dive from the upstairs drinking area and the whole crowd moves out of the way as he slams face first onto the hard ground.

Oh Chad, that did make me wish I was there and not just for the Green Day. I do most of my in the car swearing at 4 way stops and when people wave me through I go and tell them they are freaking idiots. I just go when I want if people are stupid, they watch out for me the same way they'd watch out for Angie Backman in our monster trucks.

      p.s.
U2 is never wasted concert money, heck neither was Erasure!!! I love stupid people and I will pay to watch them.

OK, I am totally with chad on this. Concerts are amazing! ...unless they aren't and then you know the band sucks. I LOVE live music. There's a completely different feel to it you'll never get with a cd. You guys just don't like others to dance becuase you secretly want to. Okay, maybe not YOU, but Laurel is a closet dancer, I know it.
Spoiler Alert! Taylor Swift ain't so sweet and innocent... she dated John Mayer. Yuck. (if you know nothing of John Mayer he's done several interviews where he says other than music his other life's goal is to sleep with as many women as possible. What a prince)On that note, Doc is quite the handsome little prince. I bet your girls just dote on him... well maybe not Abby.
